I am in the US Navy and assigned to a ship. I knew stitching would be necessary on deployment, but it would not be a service of the ship (promotions/promotions, hemming of new uniforms, etc.). I wanted a sewing machine that could handle thick or "heavy" fabrics, yet be small enough that I could easily store it in the very limited space we have for personal items. THAT'S IT! The thread that comes with the machine is just junk and breaks very easily, throw it away, take a strong thread and the thing will take over the world! I sewed 32 collars onto one jumpsuit and hemmed 4 pairs and this little guy didn't let me down. Conclusion: I would buy again and I would recommend any Navy Sailor deployed on a ship to get one, it's a cute side job when deployed on a ship!
