Serious hobbyist or planning to use the tool only occasionally in a commercial setting. I researched the internet before buying and I'm glad I made the right decision for my situation. My only criticism so far is that the ball bearings in the boom mount tend to slightly scratch the surface of the shoulder as it slides back and forth in normal use. I use the device as a visual aid when inspecting and repairing electronic circuit boards and it is well suited for that. I can expect the linear score to increase with time or heavier use. Technically, this rating is due to the lower Brinell-Rockwell hardness of the shoulder material; This means that the harder ball bearings leave their imprint on the softer surface of the hand. For this reason I gave the stereo microscope 4 instead of 5 stars. I read a review where the author made a similar observation, but he chose to replace the hand with one he made out of a harder material. If my vision deteriorates to that extent, I will replace the upper arm as he did, but that may take time.
