Recent problems with my Philips portable player prompted me to look for a new player but it turned out that they are no longer made. This player was recommended in two articles I read and had high customer ratings. I love its vintage design - faux wood and big silver buttons. Manual volume control for fine tuning. Bass Boost is available and it's not overwhelming. Durable and easy to use. The lack of a stop button is unusual, with an interesting on/off switch instead. The sound quality was amazing. On the same headphones I used (the included pair are not effective), the tracks I listen to regularly sound very different now, as the clarity and separation is much stronger and more dynamic. Plays everything I've put in it, even badly scratched CDs. Very impressive. I had it for about a week; let's see what will happen. I hope they continue.
