Like some, I thought it might all be glass. I even checked with Kosori and they said it was all glass. I pick up the kettle and join the others in checking the ring on the bottom β it really is a silicon ring around the hot plate. It comes in direct contact with water entering the kettle. Presumably this ring is made of food grade silicone (the same material used in baby bottles). Sure, etc. However, I worry that they didn't tell me the truth (or didn't know the truth in advance). I wonder what the ring is actually made of. Plus, there's still research out there that suggests silicone may or may not be bad for you. In short, a cute kettle that works well but the ring annoys. Update: I spoke to Corsori customer service and they were beyond helpful. They provided an alternative kettle that does not contain silicone. It's very nice of you to do that. I have upgraded the rating to 4/5 stars due to the excellent customer service. They also updated the description of this glass teapot to mention that it has a silicone seal on the bottom (which is handy for food and baby).
