Review on Precise Pet Microchip Scanner: ISO11784/ISO11785 RFID Reader for Pets - Dog/Cat/Pig by Yesenia Quirante

I'm a rescue dog, so it's important to have a working and reliable reader. This reader is the worst and if I could give it a ZERO it would still be too many stars. Unfortunately, when authorities or individuals use this chip reader, pets are lost. If the reader cannot determine that the pet is microchipped, the search for their home is greatly reduced. Worse, the animal can be microchipped, and if the reader doesn't read the chip, the pet can be euthanized instead of being returned home. I have 5 dogs and they are all microchipped with 3 different brands (back home, 911 and Fi Nano). I tested this reader as soon as it arrived and after a full charge. The reader was able to generate a chip ID on 3 of my dogs ONCE, and then when I tried again it failed to find a chip on 2 of the 3 dogs it had previously identified. I know it can read 3 different brands of chips because they all showed up at least once in 20+ tries, but none of them showed up more than 2 times in 20+ tries. I then tested the reader on the new chips I have that have not yet been inserted into the pet and the reader identified 2 chips out of the 23 new chips I was attempting to scan. I have attempted to scan my dogs over 20 times and the probability of this chip reader being successful in detecting a chip on both live dogs and uninjected new chips is on average about 2 times in 20 attempts . This unit is terrible! Attention buyers, this is a cheap mass-produced product from China, full of junk. The manual is also poorly written in English and Chinese.
