Dispute Resolution Upper Basket and Comparison of Two Sizes

Dispute Resolution Upper Basket A bag fits in the luggage rack of an airplane. Most reviews say it will fit, but some say it doesn't. To complicate things further, the bag comes in two sizes and S/M is 2.5 cm shorter than M/L. Does size S/M fit but M/L not? I have a larger size marked "M/L". I can safely say that the M/L size will fit in racks in both the Southwest and Alaska. It fits perfectly, no need to pinch or mutilate it. The attached photo is from an Alaska Airlines flight. My bag is on the far left. To be clear, I removed my front daypack before tossing the bag in the bin. I think you need when your bag is full. If not, you can get away with attaching it. Your mileage may vary depending on other airlines. UPDATE: I've also flown overseas with this bag (M/L) as carry-on on China Eastern and Delta 767 widebody aircraft. In both cases, the bag doesn't (barely!) fit vertically in the container, as in my attached picture. But it fit sideways in a drop-down box above the center seats. The flight attendants didn't care, but I understand how they can. For this reason I bought the size S/M. In the other picture it is black and it definitely fits in every basket. I think it's 1-2 inches shorter and the front pocket seems to be the same size. Going the smaller size loses 180 cubic inches of space. Sounds like a lot, but it's equivalent to a cube about 5.5 inches on a side. That's about three pairs of socks I'm supposed to ditch so I can always carry a bag.
