Excellent all round backpack

I was looking for a versatile backpack that could be used for training and travelling. I train cross country and track so I'm out when the weather is bad and I need a pack that can keep up. This backpack has good waterproofing, but I bought a waterproof bag for it anyway. I also wanted a backpack big enough to take with me on a trip less than 5 days. The Farpoint 55 is 24 inches long and 24 inches is the maximum carry-on length in the Southwest, so I felt comfortable with the size of the bag. I

Dispute Resolution Upper Basket and Comparison of Two Sizes

Dispute Resolution Upper Basket A bag fits in the luggage rack of an airplane. Most reviews say it will fit, but some say it doesn't. To complicate things further, the bag comes in two sizes and S/M is 2.5 cm shorter than M/L. Does size S/M fit but M/L not? I have a larger size marked "M/L". I can safely say that the M/L size will fit in racks in both the Southwest and Alaska. It fits perfectly, no need to pinch or mutilate it. The attached photo is from an Alaska Airlines flight. My bag is on…

Worth the investment!

I cannot praise this backpack. My wife and I bought 2 of these for our 3 week trip to Europe in 2014 and we loved them. We actually ordered a Farpoint 40 but they sent us a Farpoint 55. We chose to keep the packs rather than trade them in and I'm glad I kept them. Technically, the main package does not meet the maximum size requirements for most airlines. . In practice, however, the backpack fits in every overhead bin I've tested it in, and it feels "soft" enough that I've never been challenged

Universal backpack in backpacks

I confess that I hesitated when buying a travel bag. I researched endlessly, went to stores to see them in person, and then researched some more. Well I made the right choice. I loved this bag. He was with me on a 3 week tour of Europe where I checked him out. I flew on a TAP Portugal flight that wouldn't let me take it. When full it was a bit big for her liking but the zipped daypack was key. I was able to unzip it and keep all my essentials with me for the duration of the flight while…

I can't wait to try it out!

When I saw this backpack I knew I had to have it! 16 days vacation in Peru with a friend. on the hop on hop off bus with different hotels almost every night. I somehow couldn't carry my suitcases even though I usually travel with hand luggage. It just made more sense to take a backpack and so the search for the perfect backpack continued. Since I carry too many electronics with me (ipad, iphone, camera, chargers) my main goal was to find a backpack with a detachable pocket (I check Rick Steve's

I've been a long time Osprey fan and have traveled the world on my Talon 44. I love my Talon because of its light weight. the backpack is there, and 44 liters force me to pack only what i really need for the whole trip. I don't like checking bags on flights, except maybe on the way back when I want to lighten my load of all the treasures I found en route. With my old airline travel gear I had foldable bags for 2 things: the day pack and the aforementioned retrieval bag. I also carry a…
