I've had trouble with hard drives for this system in the past. After reading reviews here about successful installs on other PS3 systems, I bought it. I need to read the screen when installing software I haven't seen. I mean press Select and Start at the same time. This allows the system to search for software in other sources. Anything after that and I upgraded my hard drive from 40GB to 500GB. This drive size is larger than any new system you could buy. I also saved over $300 on a new system. There are 3GB units on the market etc. I've read on the internet (not sure if that's true) that new PS3 models with a specific model number don't support a hard drive upgrade. To learn more about this search the web. If you don't encounter any issues during the whole upgrade, just back up your system before upgrading. Most of the DLC that you have on your system like game updates and movies will need to be downloaded again. Although some of the games I had that were older like the PS2 games were archived. David
