
I tried the 7 inch VSRF before Mishimoto and the turbo lag was unacceptable due to the larger core. The Mishimoto is the same size as the stock FMIC, so it doesn't cause throttle lag, nor does it leak like BMW's tin and plastic intercooler. Gas response and turbo lag are noticeably improved with the Mishimoto. Boost increases and keeps the gain at 18.5psi (with JB4). It fits perfectly in the stock intercooler space, but I had to fiddle with the fittings as the stamped aluminum fittings on the BMW hoses are rotated about 16 inches to enter the slots on the CNC connector on the intercoller. The difference in alignment would be negligible, but due to the lack of leverage available to push the connectors together. It took about 30 minutes and some 3M lube to snap both connections together. Total installation time is about an hour. ours is smaller if you have access to an elevator.
