Razor Sharp Mirror Edge

I recently decided to revive all my dull knives. I mean really dull knives! I first bought a KING KW65 1000/6000 grit combo sharpening stone and started sharpening all my knives after watching a number of YouTube videos on the subject. My very first attempt at sharpening a knife (an 8 inch chef's knife) produced a very sharp blade that cut through veggies, meat, and newspapers with ease. Then I sharpened all the other knives with a whetstone. Edged as I used knives so I bought a Sharp Pebble compound leather strap. You'll need to heat the tape a little so that the compound evenly coats the tape. I didn't have a hair dryer but I did have a heater. So I covered the leather strap with a heating pad to warm it up and then rubbed the composite rod all over the strap. Then I covered the sling again (covered with sticky/saran wrap) with a heating pad over it. After that I was able to rub/lubricate the linkage evenly across the entire belt. The knives now have an extra thin mirror blade and cut through any newspaper like warm butter! Very happy with this belt and would recommend it to anyone looking to maintain and fine tune the blade edges of their knives. I'm primarily talking about kitchen cutlery, as I don't actually have any other knives at home. The leather belt is very good and well packaged. It's a little pricey compared to some others, but that's probably because the strap is attached to a wooden base with a non-slip pad on the bottom. I will say that I don't believe leather is real rawhide. It's more like "glued" faux leather that's annealed onto a hard base. However, I feel that it works well for the type of application it's being used for. Again, I highly recommend this sling for getting razor sharp edges on your knives and for supporting the edges between sharpenings.
