As the holidays approach I have more time to walk around the house and the cold weather doesn't allow me to leave the house and I have them again Opportunity to dust off an old Xbox. I've had the X1 since it was released in 2013. With kids playing in the basement, the TV stand was a wreck and I figured I should get some new units and lay down to play. Ordered some wireless controller docks and especially since it was from Amazon only got authorized branded Xboxes to avoid the headache of dealing with junk. Well, it turns out that's not the case now. The bottomless black dock seemed good for the price and looked nice on arrival. However, once the battery was installed and I tried to charge it, I noticed that the small light at the base showed nothing, giving me a spidery feel. After a bit of research it turns out that the three small spring contacts in the base are not making proper contact with the battery when the cover is installed to cover the battery that came with the base. When it is removed everything works fine and the light shows charging (only red or green). Either the wrong plastic cover was supplied, the manufacturing tolerances were violated, or it was just bad design to blame. This is not a problem I would have with an authorized Xbox retailer. So, cool idea, nice dock, but it doesn't load properly and needs to be modified now =* .
