I have at least 25 sets of these icicle bulbs, bought the first few sets 8-9 years ago. Several sets are added every year. They look great indoors and on outbuildings and are in very good condition - all sets are still in service. The only time I had to change a fuse in a string was my fault as I had connected that 7th string to the 6th string due to a counting error. (You can connect 3 sets together, so 6 strings. After that you will need another plug.) One or 3 bulbs are replaced every year, but that is nothing more than the normal maintenance you do with each bulb. If you've never used these lanterns before, I have a tip or two for you: the lines don't hang straight down at first, and will stay zigzagged throughout the holiday season during particularly cold weather. I would definitely recommend taking them out of the packaging and removing the strings about a week before hanging. If you can do it at home or in a heated garage, that's a plus. This allows the wires to relax and look a lot better when you hang them up. Second, I don't fold them back when I shoot. I leave them connected and twist them like you're hanging a water hose. I then place them on a long rebar hanging from the ceiling of my shed. In this form the lights hold up very well and I even label them depending on which part of the roof they belong to. Lightbulbs don't go bad year round because they're up and out of the way, and the wires are always slack so they're hanging properly when the holiday season arrives.
