Review on Airthings Temperature Business Starter Kit by Elton Luo

Has some unusual features, some general readings are missing

I was awkward setting it up at first because the box doesn't come with a quick start guide, so I had to go online beforehand, register, give them my address, etc. I was node allowed to run. As a privacy tolerant person, I didn't like giving out personal information to customize my new product. I set up and viewed information from Wave devices through their website instead of downloading the app. I've been using the built in cellular connection to connect the hub to the Wave Plus devices and I think I'm going to lose a vacant cell. Service after first 30 days of trial if I'm not paying for a subscription, at which point I plan to connect it to my less secure, lower tier network. The setup process went a bit smoother and I was able to follow the information on the website to set everything up. Setup took about 45 minutes to get everything ready. I was pleasantly satisfied that everything I needed was included in the box, from lithium batteries to cables of all kinds, even a few alternative plugs in case I was to travel to different destinations. The design of the units is really well done, from the slide out panels for accessing the serial number and ID information to the removable magnetic panels for changing the batteries on the Wave units, they have clearly thought about how to pack things on a Wisely put together that looks stylish. , comfortable to use and of high quality. It took me about half an hour before I started getting readings that seemed mostly accurate and consistent with other temperature and air quality sensors I have at home. I have an inexpensive Breathe wearable device. that measures overall air quality with particulate matter (2.5) and the Molekule Pro air filter, which has a built-in particulate matter sensor that measures PM 10 (pollen), PM 2.5 (dust) to less than PM 1 (smoke) delivers ). Therefore, when evaluating these devices, I can't help but compare the offerings from these two companies to this one. What I like about it is that you get one stroke and multiple room measurements. I also think it's good that it measures radon, which isn't offered anywhere else, as well as VOCs and CO2. We have a separate CO2 reader, but only one of these, so the benefit of having multiple stations throughout the house telling us when it would be a good idea to open a window to better health is great. And I've been concerned for a long time about VOC measures in my home as we have several new types of furniture and carpeting, so it was interesting and reassuring to see how the levels are in general. They warn on their website that they can normalize the readings to give clean readings when the air is indeed filled with VOCs, unless equipment is frequently exposed to very clean fresh air, but this, they note, applies for every reader. What really surprised and disappointed me considering the price is that these devices don't seem to measure particulate matter. Given that particulate matter seems easy enough to measure, that seems like a pretty big oversight judging by the prevalence of devices doing just that on the market. If this device measured the three main particle sizes that the Molekule Pro air filter measures, I'd be a real fan. I love measuring air quality, in part because we have a lot of pollen around, which really affects my family, and because Living in California, we are regularly exposed to wildfire smoke, which is sometimes not so obvious even as it penetrates the area. it affects how we feel throughout the day. I have a feeling there are probably a lot of cool software improvements available or coming with this kit, like a virus risk that takes a combination of readings like CO2, light etc and calculates the virus risk for a room. They also draw attention to the pollen risk module that may be available to subscribers. Overall, I'm very happy with the additional measurements this kit provides that I haven't had with my other particulate air quality instruments. It falls short as an all-in-one solution, however, as it doesn't take clear particle measurements, if any, which I don't think is based on my dashboard. I also feel that English is not the native language of people designing or creating materials for this product and for this reason the level of difficulty in understanding the product offering and using it properly is a little higher. However, it is very high quality and I am impressed with the clean design quality as well as the build quality of these devices.

Pros
  • NOTE: After 30 days, access to your dashboard will be restricted to only show recent air quality readings. You then have the option to renew your full subscription for $24/month billed annually.
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
