Review on π₯ Hobart 770479 7018 Stick Welding Electrode, 1/8-10lbs: Durable and Reliable Choice by Lagant Wardrick
Very hard to hit, sticky and very frustrating.
I have never seen new rods work so poorly. It's almost impossible to launch them terribly without a hard punch or pick and stick. This is a very disappointing rod choice. I usually use 6011 and 6013 but wanted to try them and now I will go back or find a better 7018. The rods look good out of the pack but with Lincoln 225 on a clean flat shaft the rod will burn about 1/8" in flux and make it impossible to re-start without hitting the tip or causing it to roughly hit the line Knocking the rod back in. There was a feeling that the flux was bad and wasn't burning like it should.
