These gaiters effectively protect my feet from snow, rain, small stones, dust, insects, poisonous vegetable oils. They look beautiful and are easy to put on. These aren't the lightest leggings out there (there are leggings made out of cuben fiber if you want to go ultra light), but they don't feel heavy at all for me as a small woman. The material is durable and inspires confidence. I used them for hiking a few months ago and they are now part of my standard hiking and mountaineering gear. I also use them when walking down the street in heavy rain.
