MQ505 - Good but not great

I have had this blender for a long time and use it regularly for various purposes. Need whipped egg whites? No problem. Homemade whipped cream? No problem! Need to mix the sauce well? Well it stays on next to my stove if that tells you anything. However, there are two things that consistently bother me about this hand blender. First, it's something that feels light, but really gets to you after a while: this stuff is gooey! The handle has a special coating that makes it easier to grip. Unfortunately, it attracts difficult-to-remove debris of all kinds. I'm not talking about fingerprints, it just feels sticky/tacky all the time, seemingly just due to the fact that they're there. I first bought it for soup puree and also for mashing cauliflower. To be honest, there wasn't anything fantastic about any of those jobs. At this stage I've tried pureeing various soups, but it always leaves a lot of sand and unmixed particles. I'm not sure how much the extra performance will affect the more expensive models, but I'm not happy with the performance of the MQ505. I really wish I had a lock button that lets you shuffle without holding the button down. Would I use it if it was there? Absolutely. Most mixing tasks are pretty fast though, so that doesn't bother me too much. I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. It's not bad, but I'd rather buy a more powerful model. It mixes, but doesn't puree to my satisfaction
