This reader and scanner is the best I have ever had. I love all these features, it's easy to use, you can do a lot more with it than a regular scanner that costs around $80. It's a big screen, not as big as a laptop, but you don't need that big. It comes with a maintenance case, which comes in very handy if you're traveling like me or working as a mobile mechanic. I tried it on one of my cars. I look at life dates and it's pretty cool that you can choose which dates you want to see. I haven't read any codes, but I'm pretty sure my next client will have them)). Overall it's not as expensive as $5,000, it's affordable and works the same as the expensive one. I recommend it if you work with cars and don't need to be a pro to learn how to use it, it's pretty easy.
