Bought for an outdoor cat house in Iowa two years ago. Good balance between getting enough warmth and not getting too hot. They were very happy and this made it much easier to tame them, bring them home and help them find homes. We leave it at home all year round and only turn it on when it gets cold. When cats start shedding, we turn it off. I change the towel on the pad every 2-3 days to keep it clean, but the cover is easy to remove and wash when needed. The cord is wrapped with a metal spiral, which turned out to be durable.
