I bought this because I want to burn my old tapes digitally; I'm not from the US and we have 220 volt electricity. I figured that because it has an external power supply (transformer) it would go from a 110 to a 240 like many do, so I bought it as opposed to the Panasonic (hardwired jack in the box). Unfortunately it isn't. t, it's just a 110 AC adapter that blew out after about 5 minutes. Anyway, I've since got another 6 volt to 200mA @ 220 adapter and it's working great (about 18 hours of recording so far - no problem. FANTASTIC!) I suspect this is creating more noise during recording than I was hoping for would have. This means more noise removal from the final edit. (I also have a small tape recorder - stereo and seems to make less noise.) If it were battery powered (which it is) it would make less noise. Great device but only four stars because of the power supply and noise.
