Wow! My almost 4 year old granddaughter spends hours in the supermarket! We rotate as sellers and buyers and she really likes it. We strongly recommend it! This prompts them to "write" a grocery list and request street or home delivery (pandemic style). It's all on your own which is amazing! She loves the treadmill, the register/calculator and the scanner when it beeps. She also uses a debit/credit device. For the price it is well made, durable, secure and very easy to assemble. I wish IKEA could write and illustrate instructions so well. It was a birthday present and she's getting Melissa/Doug's shopping cart, accessory kit, and "canned food"! Just a few negative points; But I want to be clear that the pros far outweigh the constructive criticism and should not deter anyone from purchasing this device. There are plastic legs for extra stability but I removed them. They were more of a trip hazard but we'll put them back on at the first sign of climbing. Keep them for children under 3 and if they climb anything in sight. The plastic door for "chilled products" is quite flimsy and doesn't close well. My husband thinks this was done so the child couldn't put all his weight on him, but I disagree. The third negative is the magnetic facial signature on the credit/debit machine which is very frustrating for our granddaughter. It doesn't work well and she is so eager to write her name and see it. It should work like Etch-a-Sketch but is barely visible. Erase mode doesn't work very well either. Most of our toys and educational activities are designed by Melissa and Doug: we LOVE this company for their sturdy, well-made toys. The thought and care that goes into each product translates into whimsical, imaginative play that rewards the child with support, joy and education.
