You can also use the plastic bag

I'd happily spend $$$ on a hard, durable case that won't fill with rainwater. This horrible cover was supposed to replace the one in our sandbox (this cover was just as horrible but ripped so it had to be replaced) and it turned out to be a real nightmare. The tip won't drag it one iota, but even if it did, it wouldn't matter because it's so thin that water collects where it can. It didn't matter what we put underneath to keep it from piling up and we tried so many things, it piled up at the slightest rain and eventually the weight would cause it to come loose. and removing the lid of any water that had collected inside meant he would inevitably fill the sandbox with water. Such a headache, but no other non-standard options that I know of

Pros
  • Sandboxes
Cons
  • The list will be long.
