Use 7/32 for pilot hole
The 1/4 bit wasn't as tight as I would like, but the 7/32 works much better. The hooks screwed in easily after drilling the pilot holes. These hooks will hold a 30 lb mountain bike securely and I'm sure they can easily handle more bikes.
