Review on πŸ’‘ Leviton 6151 Incandescent Holder Socket: The Ultimate Lighting Solution by Aaron Parish

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works with LED bulbs. Most of time.

Most dimmable LED bulbs are actually easier to use than incandescent bulbs. They don't turn orange and wasteful when the dimmer goes down. This is an energy-saving win-win if you like to dim the brightness at certain times. This "incandescent" dimmer works with all three LED bulbs I've tried (see note 1). Dims down smoothly and quietly to about 5% brightness or less. (A minimum of 10-20% brightness is required for a cold start.) β€” β€” β€” 90% maximum brightness β€” β€” β€” Unfortunately, this dimmer (and most others) does not deliver 100% brightness. As far as I can tell, this is not a waste of energy. But an LED lamp that consumes 10.6 W from a normal socket consumes a maximum of about 9.6 W with this dimmer (corresponding dimming drop). It supplies incandescent lamps with a maximum brightness of about 97%. - - - Compared to GE screw-in dimmer - - - - GE brightness reaches approx. 95% (98.7% for incandescent lamps). - GE requires no wiring. Just screw it in. - GE increases lamp height by 1.5 inches. - GE doesn't dim as low (around 10%) and dimming below 30% is a bit jerky and difficult to control. - GE 30% to 50% cheaper - - - Compared to Lutron TT-300NLH-WH Credenza Lamp Dimmer White - - - Another way to dim your existing lamp - LED brightness is only 82% (95% for incandescent) - No wiring required - - - Notes - - - Note 1: I tested the following lamps. The results were the same for all 3. - G7 610 lumens A19 dimmable - G7 1100 lumens 2700k BR30 - TCP RLBR3010W27KD2 650 lumens BR30 Comments and questions are welcome
