Review on πŸ”Œ Gearmo Professional Adapter Retention Transfer: Enhancing Connectivity Efficiency by Bill Wieser

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The GearMo USB to Serial Adapter works but has the wrong fasteners on the connectors.

This GearMo USB to serial adapter works fine without drivers on Windows v8.1, but it has the wrong type of connectors on the two serial port plugs (and they are different from the others three USB-to-serial adapters I've used in the past). It has a proper DB-9 male connector, but the male connector also has pin latches when female connectors are needed so you can securely connect GearMo to the DB-9 male connector found on the serial device/cable itself. You can take the time to remove the threaded male studs on the GearMo forks, but you will be left with a hole in the soft plastic body of the fork that has no metal threads, and so there's still no way to make a 100% safe one Connection between GearMo and itself. serial device. So all you have to rely on is a tight fit of the plug, there is no reliable way to connect two plugs together. If GearMo wanted to offer this type of fasteners, they would have included a set of female threaded fasteners that could be used to replace the male threaded studs. It looks like a very stupid decision or oversight on the part of the manufacturer. Look at the attached photo to understand the problem, you have a male fastener on both sides of the connection.

Cons
  • Disappears
