Need a console cable? How about 2!

I work in engineering and need to connect to a console for basic setup/troubleshooting. This suction cup has done a fantastic job of allowing me to connect to multiple systems at the same time. The console ports are clearly labeled so there's no confusion as to which cable goes with which port. It also doesn't slow down the reaction. I've seen some cables that split the connection so that you get 10-20 lines from one cable and then 10-20 lines from the other. So the long and short is that it…

Pros
  • Transfer rate up to 921600 bps
Cons
  • Big and bulky

This GearMo USB to serial adapter works fine without drivers on Windows v8.1, but it has the wrong type of connectors on the two serial port plugs (and they are different from the others three USB-to-serial adapters I've used in the past). You can take the time to remove the…

Pros
  • Supports full RS232 handshake
Cons
  • Disappears

No crash under Windows 7 / 64

I haven't been in the USB->Serial market for a long time. I am very satisfied with the Keyspan product. I have 4 port models HS-19 and USA=49WG. They worked great until I upgraded to Win7 64 bit. They worked fine on Win7/32. Suddenly I was struck by BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). After finding out that the Keyspan drivers were to blame, I decided to get new drivers. Keyspan was acquired from Tripp Lite. They list the drivers that support Win7/64, but they don't. The date of the driver is 2007…

Pros
  • No power pack required
Cons
  • Expensive
