Nice dress but size problem

I liked the dress. However, the size grid does not correspond to the size of the product. Before buying I read a lot of reviews about this dress and just before buying I measured myself with a tape measure. It's impossible for me to find clothes that match without altering them. I just wasn't born with a proportional body apparently lol so I'm basically 36DDD which makes me usually tall and rarely medium when it comes to shirts or tops. I'm 145 and wear pants a size 6, sometimes 8. I'm very heavy to say the least as I'm only 5ft 2in tall. I bought the XL as there were so many mixed reviews about the sizing that I just decided to refer to their sizing chart. Measuring my bust in inches at the fullest point I am 44 years old and since this is the part I am most looking forward to I have sized XL or XXL. I tried on the dress and the bodice is oddly huge while the length seems perfect and the waist isn't even close to what I thought it would be. Very strange to me. Never had such a problem. Other reviewers mentioned how long the dress was, while the dress falls to the floor, doesn't drag at all, just barely touches it and doesn't have high heels, so that's a plus! Other reviewers also mentioned the sleeves and how they are quite slim and made for smaller hands. I don't have small arms or narrow shoulders and most girls obviously don't have them as heavy as mine, but I don't see a problem with tight sleeves at all, in fact they are quite tall. The chest area fits perfectly but the waist is also big and I need to buy a belt or something to accentuate my figure. Despite the sizing issues, the dress is very pretty and well made. I'll keep it and wear it, just adding my tweaks here and there to make it work for me. This will be the first dress although I have to say I didn't have to alter absolutely anything on it which is quite amazing! To help those who are still trying to make up their minds. I would say go with your intuition about what you think is best for you and what you usually wear. I know it's a risk but the dress is really pretty and won't break the bank so I'd say it's worth it.
