Corrupt CF card every time I use it

I guess I have to keep using my super old slow CF card reader because it messed up the CF card when it was first installed. I put the CF card back in the camera, formatted it, took some photos, put it back in the reader and it all happened again. Tried a third time, same result. I even switched to a slower USB port, but it didn't matter. I then tried the same sequence with my super old CF card reader and had no problems. I don't know why this reader isn't working with my computer but it will be returned for a refund.
