I don't know about the water where you live but my water is terrible. There are many problems with it, from high levels of arsenic (left over from the dairy industry 60 years ago) to high levels of sulfur (tasty and enjoyable) and some "natural organic compounds" that, while safe, save our water. nice dull tawny. Needless to say we don't drink it, but I also found the laundry to be another mess. Many of my white ones (and some of my colored ones) have brown stains after washing, I assume due to "natural organics". I racked my brain trying to find a solution to my problem. The main problem is that our city cannot find a clean well and connect ordinary pumping equipment to it. Bluette at least helps my white guy wash. Someone told me about "blueing" and I was dying to try something that didn't involve taking my whites to a laundry in another city. Follow the directions on the bottle and you shouldn't have any problems, although I have a few tips. . 1) Dilute the mixture and pour it into the wash tub when it is filled with water. 3) Then add detergent. 4) Advertise your clothes after the tub is about half full. Start a wash cycle. 5) If you plan on putting it in a rinse too (I should) you'll need to set an alarm so you can then announce it. You have to take the clothes out of the washing machine to recommend your solution or you risk bruising everything you wash them on. 6) DO NOT ADD FABRIC SOFTENER! For some reason they react and you can get dull gray spots on things. I tried it on a bunch of patch towels just to be sure. So extra steps yes, but if your water is as bad as mine and you are struggling like me then this might help you. I have to say I didn't have any brown spots on my whites so I'm doing everything right. I will probably continue to use this until my city fixes the water issue. Much luck!
