Review on 🎧 Etymotic Research MC5 Noise-Canceling In-Ear Earphones by Lauren Allen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing and perfect.

It's hard for me to say something perfect, but I got it and I don't regret it. Obviously perfection is always subjective and this review was written to explain why I think it's perfect. To put it simply: I find it perfect because I no longer expect anything for the price I paid and most of my expectations have been far exceeded even after 6 months. The build quality is superb, as befits expensive (to me) headphones. I liked that they come with lots of interchangeable inserts, although the 3-ply ones are good enough that I haven't tried the others. My requirements were: - price $75 - built-in microphone - sound quality - noise isolation Price: it was up to $75. Microphone: Yes, and the controls worked with my HTC Thunderbolt, Galaxy Nexus, and now my iPhone 5. Sound Quality: Amazing. The level of detail is better than I expected. I keep finding new details in the music I hear that I've never heard before. That's a very good thing. I like listening to mainstream rap, R&B and house - Rick Ross, Ne-Yo, Tiesto. Unlike a lot of people who listen to this, I don't want the bass to be big and the highs harsh. I like it when music plays the way it was intended. I have subwoofers in my car, I don't need mega bass headphones sacrificing SQ. However, my favorite band is Jimmy Eat World and I love all of their music. I play guitar and piano, so I also listen to music on a daily basis that focuses on acoustic guitar by Matt Wertz and piano by Jack's Mannequin. I've been listening to a lot of Coldplay and Mumford and Sons lately. My music tastes are wildly different, so I needed headphones that just play music and don't get in the way and don't add anything. They achieve it beyond my expectations. Hearing the intricacies of the piano, guitar, artist's voice and everything behind the music was exactly what I wanted. Noise Isolation: It's a well-known fact that these are some of the best, if not the best, noise-isolating headphones out there. They are way better than the Bose QC15 - my dad has them and I've spent a lot of time comparing them. I somewhat overlooked the effect of noise isolation as I've never owned headphones with this feature. Driving to work or walking to music is ideal as there is no background noise. This will make me buy Etymotics forever.
