Commercial flat roof, water ponds. I used 4 x 8ft black Eternabond roof sealer on a 60 mil black EPDM split joint, it only lasted 3 years and was abandoned. I think keys contribute to short life, retain water, expand and contract, 4 inches isn't wide enough, black is color (white lasts longer, reflects heat). LESSON, if you want a permanent renovation or a flat roof with a water pond, you should go for the traditional renovation method. Protective tape, primer and cleaner. I now plan to cut, line (no water build up) and tape if it can be cleaned, or 2x double sided tape with a piece of EPDM. hope that helps.
