This product worked great. The quality of the product is good and what you would expect for the price. I used it with a Thule Force XT XXL luggage rack. I stole the 2 x 4 idea from a jgw review on June 10, 2019. I had the pro version versus the standard version of the product shown in the "jgw" review. My review largely aligns with the review by "jgw". I'll add two things: The 2x4 cut is 4 feet long, so standard 8 feet would be fine. The Pro version allows me to get it quite high so the 8 inch clearance from the ceiling for the fully retracted Pro reel mechanism mentioned in the previous review is pretty accurate. For easier post-lift alignment, I didn't either. I don't want to constrain my straps by screwing them into the 2x4 ends. To keep them from slipping off the ends, I notched each 2x4 end with a 1.25" (width) x 0.75" (depth) inch (depth) so the straps wrap around the ends. In the pro version The retractable pulleys can also be raised until they touch the underside of the mounting bracket if the position of the straps on the object to be lifted is such that the cable from the mounted pulleys is perpendicular to the bracket (i.e. straight up and down, not at an angle). ).This minimizes the distance to the ceiling.The instructions suggest watching the YouTube video for installation,which makes the installation very easy.
