I've had a terrible time trying to find something better than a flimsy brace that the dealer fitted to my BMW X7. I've tried many different options and settled on this one as it's the most durable I could find and also has 4 threaded holes for license plate screws (included). Most others have flimsy round threads that are wafer-thin and fall out easily, but they have hexagonal bronze inserts that seem solid enough. The mount isn't as strong as I'd like, but it's certainly the best out there. It still requires shorter screws so you don't screw it into the car, but it has a closed 4-hole back that makes accidental piercing difficult. I could do without the special screws and will probably lose the special screwdriver over time, but it's durable enough that I don't expect to have to fiddle with it for a few more years.
