I have 5 different Fantom drives. I have never had a single breakdown or failure and am a regular customer. I understand they fill them up with hard drives of different brands, but so far I've been lucky. The only problem I have (1.) is that the drive will not work with the included 1 amp power supply. I was willing to return the unit until I replaced one of the other adapters with my other Fantom and the hard drive worked great. I looked and saw that other power supplies put out at least 2 amps at 12v. the one that is on is 1 amp max and is probably not enough. I can't figure out why they put it in the box, but since I accidentally found another PSU in my parts box, I'm keeping it to myself. If I wasn't a regular customer I would return the unit.
