Review on Arkon Bike Motorcycle Handlebar Mount Holder for iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S3, LG, Motorola, HTC by Stuart Sugden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great road mount

I don't have a mountain bike so can't comment on how it performs in these conditions. The circular mounting bracket includes two pieces of thin rubberized material to grip the handlebars. My steering wheel was small so I wrapped the rubber material with a few strips of duct tape. Everything turns out beautifully. My phone, the Nokia 521, is 0.2mm taller than the iPhone 5. Both are 124mm tall. The main body has two lower legs that are spring loaded. My cell phone fits comfortably in these four legs. The ejection strap seems to do its job well and ensure the phone doesn't fall out. It also serves a dual purpose. The main body that holds the phone clips is inserted into the middle mounting plate. The center mounting plate has a screw to ensure it doesn't fall off the gimbal that attaches it to the handlebar mount. However, the ejector rod is part of the center mounting plate, which in turn has a latch as a fail-safe. So if the main body comes loose, the ejector strap should hold the main body and the phone on the center bracket. If your phone is significantly shorter at 124mm, it may not fit as snugly as a larger phone. Despite this, the springs feel quite strong. Other reviewers have complained about phones detaching, but they may have bought one that didn't have an ejection strap. I'm holding back a five star rating because I think the designers should have included a bolt in the main body design as a more bulletproof failsafe. But I think it's obvious that this mount is for street use only.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Pretty much everything is fine
