Before the advent of HOPPER (along with its annoying TV commercials), the ViP722K was the best receiver in the range. It has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a classic DVR. Supports two TVs, comes with two remote controls (one of them is UHF, so you can control the receiver from another room where TV2 is located). There is an optional Over The Air (OTA) add-on to add your local broadcast channels. The OTA module is often overlooked due to the added functionality. While you're probably already receiving locals on a satellite channel, when you watch a local channel counts as one of your two simultaneous channels that you can use with this receiver. If you have an OTA module, you can not only have two simultaneous transmissions over the satellite signal, but also have two simultaneous transmissions over the air. That means you can record up to 4 things at the same time (2 broadcasts via satellite, 2 broadcasts via OTA).
