I've been using this incense stick for 28 years. I've seen reviews saying it smells like old incense now. I asked a question about it before I bought it. The seller gave me a hypothetical scenario that seems possible: these herbs are hand-picked in the region, and some herbs may not always be available or no longer grow, and other herbs with similar medicinal properties are harvested instead, causing the smell to change slightly . When I first lit and inhaled incense, it smelled like the old, muffled version of incense I remember, but when I let it burn in the room I really couldn't tell a difference as the smell spread. It smells almost the same as it pervades the room. The packaging has also changed a bit. When I bought it, the package was wrapped in thin plastic. It goes without saying that the company no longer uses plastic. Maybe the plastic helped keep the herbs from drying out. Update: It actually smells like an older, more dried out version. I let the whole stick burn inside. It smells different than before.
