I was very worried when I received it because the packaging was already cut at the bottom. Here are some reviews with the same problem but with the package pre-opened. What bothered me was that the real commuter magnesium wand was replaced with a cheaper version and sold as the branded commuter wand. I'm still not sure, but I did a magnesium test. Many bars on the market are aluminum and do not work as well as magnesium bars. I've found that vinegar reacts with magnesium and forms bubbles, unlike aluminum with which it doesn't react. The stick I received turned out to be magnesium because it reacted, so I kept it rather than sending it back.
