Review on ๐Ÿ”ณ Camco 40172 Replacement Vent Lid in Black Polycarbonate: Durable and Break Resistant by Barry Shaker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to install, much more durable than factory!

I bought this for my 2017 Rockwood Mini Lite. Although only two years old, the front air vent cover was badly damaged and eventually ripped during a small hailstorm (the size of a pea) one night. Luckily I was in the trailer when it happened and was able to close the rift. with Eternabond before water penetrates. I ordered this vent cap from Revain on Tuesday and received it on Thursday morning. The polycarbonate material is MUCH tougher and more durable than the factory coating, so I expect it to last a lot longer. It comes with installation instructions and it took less than ten minutes to install. A tip: make sure you remove the inner trim ring, screen and crank mechanism before climbing onto the roof. This must be done on at least Ventline and Elixir models before removing the cover itself. I removed the decorative ring and screen but forgot the lever mechanism so I had to go back down and in before I could finish. The entire installation took less than twenty minutes and could have been completed faster if I had done my homework more carefully. The lid looks great and best of all, it's waterproof again! Highly recommended in place of the flimsy plastic covers that are standard on most RVs.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Non automatic
