Revainrating 5 out of 5

Update: Used for 5 years with great results, reformulated last year - continues to work great!

My 9 year old cat started having seizures a few weeks ago. They last a minute or two while she trembles violently, rolls over, drools, urinates, and then slowly returns to normal. After the first one I took her to the vet and did a blood test. Everything was normal, the vet said to watch her first. In the meantime I looked into natural therapies, found PetAlive EaseSure and saw all the great reviews. I started giving her once a day: 2-3 drops mixed with water and given through a syringe. I started 6 days ago. So far there have been 2 cases where she had a severe seizure within 10 minutes of being given the drug. Another time she had one about an hour after I gave her the medicine. I can't help but think that this substance somehow promotes seizures. Too much coincidence that she had 2 seizures within 10 minutes of administering the drug. I called the vet but now I'm going to stop and see how she behaves over the next few days. If she has another seizure I may have to try the vet's solution, although I prefer a natural treatment to the drugs they give her. a day ago in April 2013. The seizures stopped, she only had a few minor ones over the next few months. I haven't seen any signs of a seizure since July 2013. It's possible that she had a seizure while I was at work, but that's impossible to determine (other than overturned bowls, etc.). Weekend, I never saw her show any signs. At the same time that I started her on phenobarbital, I continued PetAlive EaseSure in the hope that this would help in the long term as well. I give her 3 drops in the morning and 3 drops in the evening (mixed with water in a syringe) at the same time she gets her phenobarbital dose. Last December I started reducing her phenobarbital dosage to the point where she is now half the dose (2mg) she started on and is doing so well so far. No signs of seizures. My biggest concern has been long-term use of phenobarbital and possible liver damage (I've also recently started giving her milk thistle to help her liver). I haven't been to the vet since last year when her blood was tested for phenobarbital a few months later. The vet does not know that I reduced the dose. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to try to wean her off PB completely or not. I would love to eventually stop using PetAlive EaseSure entirely and continue using PetAlive EaseSure, but I feel better knowing that her phenobarbital dose is half what it used to be and I have to wonder if PetAlive EaseSure is helping. I'm increasing the rating to 3 stars and will update this review later if there is any news to report. Wean her off phenobarbital. To clarify, the prescription bottle says "Phenobarbital 16.2mg - 30 tablets) - the vet told me to give her 1/4 tablet twice a day, so it was around 4mg in the morning and 4mg in the evening. I've gradually phased her off since then PB weaned. Currently I'm giving her 1/8 tablet (2mg) every 3 days which is basically nothing. I don't think my vet would agree with this but I'm doing what I think is best for my cat Phenobarbital will damage her liver over time. I am also giving her 3 drops of PetAlive EaseSure once a day mixed with water in a syringe soon.) I will continue to give her PetAlive EaseSure which helps and I am increasing my rating to 4 stars. I will be in Will give another update in the future and if all goes well after stopping phenobarbital I will probably upgrade my rating to 5 stars I am attaching a photo of my cat hopefully she stays healthy for a long long time Upd ate: 06/21/16 - the cat is fine, no signs of seizures since July 2013. I am still giving her the same low dose of phenobarbital as here a year ago and she is still on 3 drops of PetAlive EaseSure per day I sometimes skip a day here and there because she runs and hides when I add some milk thistle, which she doesn't like. I spoke to the vet last year when I took her for a check up and he knows I am weaning her from PB. In fact, she probably should have left long ago, but I'm in no hurry. I will continue to use PetAlive EaseSure, probably for a long time. I'm also increasing my rating to 5 stars. I hope everything goes on as it was. Update: 10/3/16 - The cat just had a blood test and exam. She is fine and the vet said her phenobarbital levels are low enough for me to stop. As I have mentioned in previous updates, I have gradually weaned her off phenobarbital as she has not had a seizure in over 3 years. I stopped taking phenobarbital a little over a week ago but I still intend to continue using PetAlive EaseSure for probably the rest of her life. I still have some phenobarbital in case the seizures come back, but I'm hoping they don't. I will continue to provide regular updates about them. Update: 4/8/17 - The cat is still doing great, no signs of seizures for almost 4 years. She has been off phenobarbital completely since October 2016 after slowly weaning it for several years. I just bought a new bottle of this product but noticed that it's called PetAlive EaseSure-S and not just PetAlive EaseSure even though Revain's picture still shows the old bottle. After some research I contacted the manufacturer and found out that the old formula was split into 2 different products: PetAlive EaseSure-S and PetAlive EaseSure-M. Their explanation was that "the FDA asked us to separate our products that contain both herbal and homeopathic ingredients," so that was the reason for the change. I was told that EaseSure-S (herbal) should work just like the original formula. If not, I can buy both versions and combine them to get the original formula. I've just started using EaseSure-S, so I thought it was a good time to announce an update. So going forward, my cat will be on the EaseSure-S formula and I will continue to provide updates as needed. I hope there are no problems. I just want people to be on their guard - although Revain still lists the old formula, if you order now you'll most likely get the EaseSure-S version. You know it's funny, as I'm sitting here typing this update, my cat is right next to me trying to walk on the keyboard - she loves doing that. I suspect she wants to test it before I post it! Update - 9/3/18 - Kat is still doing great, she just turned 14 this year and hasn't had any signs of a seizure in over 5 years. I have given her the EaseSure-S formula for the past year and have had no problems whatsoever. I give her about 2 drops a day. Either the thing keeps working, or the cause of her initial seizures no longer affects her. Anyway I will keep giving her this and I hope she lives for a long, long time!
