Although for the most part it appears to be solid and decently finished it may not be watertight due to a design flaw. Immediately after unpacking, the hinge side does not close as tightly as the clip side. Unfortunately, the rubber O-ring is too small to fill this gap. You can barely see it in one of my photos on the right. This is the best picture I could get, but the gap spans most of this page. In fact, the O-ring sits very deep in its groove all the way around and just seems to seal around the various clamps. I was about to return it but out of curiosity I put an extension cord through it and pinched it. closed. With inlaid cord (14 gauge) it opens at both ends!
