This device works well when connected to the cigarette lighter in the car. However, it will NOT work when connected to an AC adapter equipped with a cigarette lighter socket. I assumed that since I already have the above adapter I could use this charger both at home and in the car, but there is a small label on the unit that says it is car only should. The cigarette lighter is powered by the vehicle's 12-volt battery. My guess is that it has something to do with the "quality" of the DC power being delivered through the power supplies. an excellent device in the car and i think i belong to a very small minority of buyers who want to use it both at home and in the car.
