I've noticed that Meelectronics reps read reviews and reply often, so I'd like to ask a question: why do your flagship IEMs with Class A+ sound have such cheap build quality compared to the much cheaper model that you sell ? I mean exactly M-11+. While it sounds too soft, weak, and bottom-heavy for my liking, the clear cables are strong (I use them during workouts), flexible, tangle-resistant, and stylish. Meanwhile, the A161P's cables are tangled, stretchy, black rubber materials that remind me a lot of the $12 Skullcandy headphones (except they have wavy curves, unlike the Skullcandy). The M-11+'s earbuds appear to be made out of machined metal, while the triple-priced IEMS earbuds appear to be made out of plastic. and make me nervous that they're about to rip when I remove Comply's snug foam tips. The M-11+ has the usual strain relief where the cables connect to the headphones, while those things have weird plastic temples that stick out and make it difficult to get a good fit no matter what earbuds I use. I still give these A161Ps. four stars because they sound better than any other IEMs I've used with extreme clarity, strong bass, punchy mids and fairly bright highs that don't blow my mind. What's happening? Why pack all this great sound into such a mediocre package? Meelectronics has shown that it can do better at a much lower cost. UPDATE JULY 2014 One day I noticed that the copper wire was exposed where the cable meets the odd bracket on the right earcup. It should be noted that I have been babysitting these children more or less from day one, 2 or 3 times a week at most, usually only during train journeys. The A161Ps were so good they had their own pocket in my laptop bag. Luckily, I noticed this less than a year after purchase, and Meelectronics' customer service lives up to its reputation. The rep gave me a choice: choose a new "sturdier" model, as he put it, or send it in for repair. They're out of production and sold out, the guy said. I love the sound so much I went with the latter and sent the defective pair back. Not sure, but looks like they dug up a new pair to send to me anyway. To sum it up, great sound, terrible build quality, great customer service. And outside of the market, which is probably a good thing.
