The laces are strong for a reason.
Some reviewers don't like the included laces. I suspect the laces should be some durable synthetic material as the lace buckles on the ankles have small grooves on the inside to keep the laces from slipping and your foot from sliding forward, especially when going downhill. It also allows you to keep the laces tight for a better fit. The laces would wear out quickly if they weren't strong. Shoelaces need to be tied twice as they have a more slippery surface.

- It took about a week to break them in. After that it was pure paradise.

- They can be uncomfortable for people with sensitive feet.
