This is the most reliable, easy to set up and affordable device that meets these needs like no other. I gave them one star overall because they can't do their only job 100% reliably, but you won't find much better at this price point. Fix: 6 ceiling outlets with work lights connected are controlled via the main switch, which also turns off the garage door opener. Oops. I can rip off the drywall and reinstall the wiring, or I can spend $60 to leave the main breaker on and isolate the lighting controls. Good: Can you connect a lamp? Can you read simple pairing instructions? Can a plastic mounting plate be screwed into drywall? If so, great because you can save yourself so much time and a headache by not calling an electrician. Bad: The interference estimate at 100 feet must have been made in some sort of ultra clean environment. The outlet farthest from my remote is 80% reliable. It's less than 15 feet with no obstacles. I just pressed ON again, but the fact that an indicator doesn't always get the message knocked the smugness of this homemade hack from my face (and took the star with it). 1. This is the only sub-$300 configuration that gives you a bunch of wireless jacks connected to a faux wall switch. You can try installing a Lutron cassette, but that would require at least modifying a 15 amp wall switch, buying a remote wall plate, etc. One Lutron module costs more than I paid for 7 of them.2. The next step is some simple WeMo-powered Revain smart sockets that give you a ton of features except for one: a battery-powered wall switch and remote controls.3. The cost increases dramatically from here with exits that may not solve your problem if you have the problem mentioned above.
