This is the most unique piece of cat furniture I own because it's not so obvious that it's made for cats. I love how this climbing plant blends in quite nicely with the rest of my decor and all three of my cats love the very tall scratching post. I've actually been looking for a tall perch for a while as both of my cats are quite large and like to stretch on the perch - finding one that has shelves to rest on was a fun bonus and it feels sturdier than other pieces of furniture that are just shelves. In terms of stability, I'd point out that when my crampons get a good scratch, the whole block wobbles significantly. Not enough to pose a fall hazard, but definitely enough to make the top shelf design questionable. The cats don't have an opening to access the top level so I'm guessing it's for decoration but the way the shelf wobbles when the scratching post is in use I'm not sure what decoration I can safely place there . Now I'm using New Year's gnomes, but after the holidays I'll have to reevaluate. I could probably stabilize the unit by wall mounting it, but I'm still not sure if the top shelf could be used for pottery and books as shown in the photo. Finally, the whole climber was very easy to assemble. - I was able to do it myself in about 30 minutes. Definitely easier than other more traditional scratching posts I've had.
