Incorrect measurements are very common

I had a real problem with the device not measuring distances correctly. Many times I've pressed the button to take a measurement and it defaults to 0.033 feet. I got the exact same reading despite measuring from different distances. After several attempts to get accurate measurements from time to time, it gives me the correct measurements as shown in the two photos I posted. Both shots were taken the same distance from the wall to my left where I was aiming the laser. This is very frustrating, especially because sometimes it keeps giving me this 0.033 foot measurement, sometimes, like yesterday when I was using it, it took me about 15 or so to get the correct measurement instead of just 0.033 feet too read what was obviously completely wrong. For the price I paid for this tool and it's a small tool I expected more from this tool and it didn't have such issues as I've only used the tool a couple of times and it hasn't suffered any damage or anything gave that to the instrument. I've never dropped it or encountered anything which is why it so often gives me wrong measurements with no good reason to explain the problem it's having. I am very disappointed with this tool. I'm a big fan of Klein tools in general and have used many of their tools over my 18 year career as an electrician. I'm not sure what the problem is and what to do to fix it. But as I said, since I've only used it a few times so far and it hasn't suffered any damage that could explain the wrong reasons, I'm very disappointed in the accuracy and reliability of this particular tool. for laser measurements. Maybe this is a strange phenomenon, and unfortunately I just got a bad device. I hope other owners of this tool didn't have the same problems as me.
