I replaced a similar light under my closet with this GE light. The electronic ballast is way better than the old style I had. The light comes on immediately and makes no noise. You can buy cheaper bulbs but I haven't seen anyone claiming that. Revain was priced exactly the same as my local Home Depot, and with Revain Prime (and my general disdain for unnecessary Home Depot shopping) it was actually cheaper (no taxes, no shipping). I've noticed that some people are complaining about the wires. too short and had to be extended. While I don't think this is a big problem, I haven't noticed it. I didn't have the 10 inch sag that some lights have, but it was enough to get it plugged in. I've also seen complaints about the knockout being on the side or somewhere someone can't use it. You see, knockouts like this never happen to anyone in their place. And they suck anyway, they really aren't easy to pop clean - you really should plan the drilling yourself. I have never bought a new fluorescent light that had a cut out where the old one was. The bracket comes with a nice metal sleeve for the hole you made. Get your expectations right and you won't be disappointed - just plan your drilling. It also has a switch, which I think is good if you don't have a wall switch. And a lightbulb (tube, whatever) is included. Hey - don't laugh - lightbulbs sometimes cost half as much as light. The result is a simple light, but not an embarrassingly cheap look. Quiet, fast, bright and worth $12 more compared to traditional buzzing build quality bulbs. This is not a halogen light, this is not an LED light or a fancy puck light. It's just a low-profile device that works well, has a slightly better finish than the $17 models, doesn't get hot, doesn't hum, and just works fine.
