This is the second keyring case I have bought in the last year. A lot of the ones you find at Revain don't have a secure way to close the tread - just a flimsy rubber band, and they only come in black, making them hard to find if you drop or lose the tread. That's how it was with my first. I accidentally dropped the protector in our garden at night (luckily the key wasn't in it) and didn't find it until a couple of weeks later. At this point, it was moldy and dirty from being in a humid environment for so long. I put it in the wash only to find the wash destroyed the protection. And so I buy a new protective film for the key fob. I had several criteria. 1) I wanted it to be compact so it could fit in my pocket more easily. The bulkiness was what I've always hated about the latter. 2) I wanted a better locking mechanism 3) Ideally I wanted to find a lighter color to make it stand out. The Silent Pocket protective cover meets all three criteria (well, 2 out of 3 of course anyway). It comes in a variety of colors and appears to be well made. The durable canvas material looks high quality and looks like they have improved the stitching on some of the old customer photos posted here so hopefully it will be more durable. I was able to verify that it works as advertised. With the key in the guard (you have to put it in the bronze security pocket) and the lid latched I couldn't even open my car from 1ft. Even with the lid open, the key was not recognized. Cute! The locking mechanism is really good. It snaps into place and keeps the tread closed more securely than competing products that only have a rubber band. It adds quality and works very well. In addition, there are two more buttons on the back that allow you to fold the protector in half to make it more compact. I'm deducting one star because of general sizing issues. The product description lists multiple sizes for the same device which is very confusing. There are also no instructions with the product and I discovered the possibility of folding through trial and error. For reference, when unfolded (but closed), this guard measures approximately 4" x 5" (external dimensions). Folded in half and closed, it measures approximately 4" x 2.5" (external dimensions again). Unfortunately my Mazda key fob does not fit in the protector when folded in half. The inner pocket is a bit too narrow. Your keychain might fit if it's not that big. Unfortunately I bought this protector on the promise that I could close it down to 4" x 2.5" but ended up having to store it in a 4" x 5" pocket. It works, but it's not perfect. Overall this is a good solid product with some really nice design features. Hope the durability doesn't disappoint.
