Review on Sperry Instruments CS61200P Electrical Circuit Tester by Punk Espinoza

As others have said. It's a guessing game

I was very happy to receive this device in the mail and tested it straight away. The first thing I noticed was that there was no adapter included. The adapter I'm talking about is the one you can use to test lightbulb sockets. Using this device is pretty self-explanatory. Insert the battery that came with the main unit, plug the other detachable mini unit into an outlet and test out some of the switches. Well here the device looked like the Ghost Wand from the Ghostbusters as it was triggered on most switch boxes. The switch box is approx. 3 weeks old with new wiring installed by a licensed professional. This detector works even when I put my wand on the surrounding metal around the switches. I tried investing more time and patience and found that no matter how the indicator light felt, I was relying on my ears to notice the highest pitched sound of them all. Although the highest note was the right one to find the right breaker, it took several passes and concentration. I thought I could handle it but there is nowhere I can contact the seller to let them know that this sale is out of stock and returning will be the only way out. Would I recommend this product? Not really. It looks good and seems like the intended design was well thought out, but the signal interference you get, which detracts from its original purpose of finding the switch, is the deciding factor in this sale.

Pros
  • Magnetic backing attaches to panels for hands free control
Cons
  • Doubt
