Review on πŸ” Enhanced Scanning Precision with Pacific Image Electronics PrimeFilm PF1800S Scanner and SilverFast SE Software by Kenneth Harris

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Affordable, good performance, slow driver, sometimes buggy

Reading some of the following reviews reminded me that I use a Mac (17" iMac 1.25GHz, 768 RAM): Things usually works. The PF1800 is actually a good scanner, although not great. I scan all my dad's slides and it gives good user friendly results. I use 1200-3000 dpi which allows me to print good quality images in a manageable file. Dimensions. I used to use an Epson flatbed scanner with a slide attachment, which was much slower and could not reliably reproduce high-quality scans. The PF1800 does the job, if not perfectly: it has problems with darker slides, which despite various manipulations, become very grainy Its CyberView 35 driver on Mac OS X (Panther) is not without glitches: it often mysteriously invokes the alt en scan when a NEW slide is published and occasionally freezes. I had no issues with overheating during an ADVANCED scan. But it's MUCH cheaper than the rest and it WORKS. I've made about a thousand slides with it so far. i should know Also check out Costco.com for a better price and a cool software bundle that includes Adopre Photo Elements. Happy scanning!
